Welcome  Home

New Here?

"You will be blessed when you come in,

and blessed when you go out."

  -- Deuteronomy 28:6

Everyone comes from somewhere.   And everyone comes with a story.   Our God is a welcoming God, and there is a place for you at First Presbyterian Waynesville.  Come as you are. Share your stories.  Hear ours.  Everyone longs for a place to call home!

This congregation is just the right size for building real friendships of care and mutual support, allowing us to know each other and be known.   We share together the joys of God's goodness; we learn together, and we grow together.  We understand the righteousness of God's home, and we work as one to  give back with grateful hearts.

Our Location

We are located in downtown Waynesville at the corner of Walnut and Main Streets.

Service Times

Sunday Worship begins at 10:45AM in the Sanctuary. Masks are required to attend in person.  Adult Classes and childcare are suspended during this time of pandemic uncertainty.

About Us

Our Mission is to love God and love one another.  This is our guide in everything we do and who we are.

Immediately upon entering the church you will be greeted by one of our members and they will be happy to answer any questions you might have.  Our ushers will provide any assistance you may need in getting seated.  Masks that cover your nose and mouth are required.  We can provide one if you are without.  Face shields alone are not acceptible.

The Sanctuary

Worship service is held at 10:45 each Sunday in the sanctuary.

Style of Dress

People attend worship at FPCW in a wide variety of attire, and you will be welcome here no matter what you wear.

Worship Service

Our Sunday morning worship service starts with some gathering music and a quiet time of reflection.  We also incorporate responsive readings, special music, church life announcements, prayer, Bible readings, and a sermon.    Communion is held the first Sunday of the month.  Our service normally lasts an hour.

Welcoming Smile

Childcare for babies and young children is suspended during this time of pandemic uncertainty.

Sunday Adult Classes

The Seekers Class is meeting via Zoom on Sundays at 9:30.

The Isaacs Class is meeting in person - socially distant and masked - in the Fellowship Hall at 9:30.

For information on participating, please call the office at 828-456-3243.

Refreshments Following Service - Suspended

There is a fellowship time after the worship service and you’re invited!   We gather in the Fellowship Hall for refreshments and conversation. It's a great way to better know the folks who share the pews at  FPCW.  And on the second Sunday of the month we all enjoy a delicious Covered Dish Pot Luck luncheon together.

Hospitality on Sundays

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you."   Mathew 7:7

There are 92 doors at FPC Waynesville, many old and original, some just old. Some are heavy, swing in or just stand open.  Nearly all are beautiful.  No matter.  Whatever door you open in this church will lead to something you need, even if it's just a way out.    It is our hope that as you explore the church, you will come to know that with every door there's a welcome, a beginning and a place of belonging.
