Local Outreach

"Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love."  - Mother Teresa

Helping the Community

As we at FPCW look around us, there is clearly much need in our community.  We actively seek to understand where the church can best lend its support locally, and through the Mission Team, hope to make a difference. Community outreach organizations we support in a variety ways include Habitat for Humanity, Haywood Christian Ministry, Mountain Projects, The Open Door, Pathways Homeless Shelter, Clothes for Kids, Manna Back Pack Project, Reach, and the Haywood Community Learning Center.  In addition, we contribute financially to the Presbytery sponsored campus ministry (UKirk) at Western Carolina University.

For a number of years, the church has also supported Black Mountain Home for Children and Children’s Hope Alliance which encompasses Grandfather Home for Children and Hawthorn Heights Youth home, which are all located in our wider western North Carolina area.
