CALL TO WORSHIP      from Psalm 92

It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praises to your name, O Most High.

To declare your steadfast love in the morning, and your faithfulness each night.

For you, O LORD, have made me glad. At the works of your hands I sing for joy.

It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praises to your name, O Most High.

God of Grace, you have given us minds to know you, hearts to love you, and voices to sing your praise.

Fill us with your Spirit that we may celebrate your glory

and worship you in spirit and in truth;

through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

God rescued his people from slavery in Egypt because of his covenant love.

And even though our Lord provided everything they needed for the journey each day,

they grumbled and rebelled. Their story is our story, too,

as daily we spurn God’s steadfast love and provision.

In humility and faith, let’s confess together:

Sovereign Giver of all things;

Forgive our failure to acknowledge you as our faithful Provider.

Forgive our worry about tomorrow and our lack of gratitude in the midst of each day.

Forgive our failure to pray about absolutely everything.

Forgive our neglect to love and care for others.

Nourish and sustain us body and soul,

through the power of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.

          -  Spend a few moments in silent confession –

Even though we are rebellious, forgetful & complaining,

God demonstrates his compassion - not because we deserve it -

but according to the abundance of his steadfast mercy & love.

Friends believe the Good News! In Jesus Christ we are forgiven.

Thanks be to God. Amen.

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH   from The Heidelberg Catechism

What is the fourth petition of the Lord’s Prayer?

“Give us this day our daily bread.”

That is: be pleased to provide for all our bodily needs

so that thereby we may acknowledge that You are the only source of all that is good,

and that without Your blessing, neither our care and labor nor Your gifts can do us any good.

Therefore, may we withdraw our trust from all creatures and place it in You alone.

PASSING THE PEACE    Philippians 4:6-7

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition,

with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding,

will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

The peace of Christ be with you!

SCRIPTURE & MESSAGE   “Daily Bread”    Exodus 16:2-5        (click)

Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name.

Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil:

For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Generous Lord, we thank you for daily providing all we need

and for sustaining us both physically and spiritually.

In gratitude, we give to provide and care for others.

Receive and bless these our gifts. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

   (You may give on-line, mail a check to the church address, or drop it in the church mailbox).

Praise God from whom all blessings flow.

Praise Him, all creatures here below;

Praise Him above, ye heavenly host.

Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.

BENEDICTION  1 Peter 5:10-11

The God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ,

after you have suffered a little while,

will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.

To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.
