CALL TO WORSHIP  from Psalm 34

I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise will continually be in my mouth.

My soul will boast in the Lord; Let the afflicted hear and rejoice.

O magnify the Lord with me; Let us exalt His name together.

Almighty God, you are the one constant in our ever-changing and uncertain world.

Your wisdom and your Sovereignty keeps us resting in you.

Your love is too vast to measure. Your promises are never broken.

With great joy we adore you both now and forever. Amen.

In these days it’s clear to see how far God’s dearly loved people fail to honor God.

Together we come before God’s throne in confession,

acknowledging all have sinned and fall short of God’s greatness and glory.

In humility and faith, let’s confess together:

Merciful God, every week we pray “Your will be done”,

yet we confess our struggle because we really want our own way.

We acknowledge you as King, reigning in perfect wisdom over this world and our lives,

but we keep trying to take charge. Forgive us, O Lord. Change our hearts and

teach us what it means to surrender our will to yours.

We pray in the Name of Jesus, who came to show us the way. Amen.

--Spend a few moments in silent confession –

By the power of the Holy Spirit, the deep love of the Father,

and through the sacrifice of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we are forgiven!

Friends believe the Good News. Thanks be to God. Amen.

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH   from The Heidelberg Catechism

What is the third petition of the Lord’s Prayer?

“Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”

That is: grant that we and all people may renounce our own will and obey Thy will,

which alone is good, without grumbling,

so that everyone may carry out his own office and calling

as willingly and faithfully as the angels in heaven.

In this season of physical distancing, how do we greet one another in the family of faith?

Are we using words to express our love?

Are we sharing the peace of Christ by our actions?

The peace of Christ be with you!

SCRIPTURE & MESSAGE   “God’s Will or Mine?”  1 Thessalonians 5:13-24    (click)

Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name.

Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts,

as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation

but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom,

and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Generous Lord, we dedicate these gifts to you as a token of our gratitude and love.

Bless them. Multiply them. Use them to help those in need,

to strengthen the Church and to do your will – on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.

(You may give on-line, mail a check to the church address, or drop it in the church mailbox).

Praise God from whom all blessings flow.

Praise Him, all creatures here below;

Praise Him above, ye heavenly host.

Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Now unto God who is able to keep you from falling,

And to present you faultless

before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy;

To the only wise God our Savior,

be glory and majesty, dominion and power,

Both now, and forevermore!     Amen.
